What Is SMS

What would we do without SMS? Or what would some people do. I have always been amazed at how some can text messages quicker than they can talk on their mobile phone. Not only do that, but watch TV, read a magazine at the same time. SMS has become so popular that even a new language has developed, that those not in the know need to take a bit of time to learn.

So what is SMS.

Well it stands for short message service, a simple program installed into all mobile phones that allow you to write about 10 words or so and send them to another mobile phone. As it says, it sends messages rather than full scripts or emails full of information, no logos, no business headers and addressed just basic text.

Or course it has developed a bit more over the years, where you can attach images or photos, to the text, send multiple messages at the same time, predictive text and more. But unlike other media types, the SMS has remained pretty static over the 15 or so years it has been around.

Benefits talking on the mobile phone

It had certain benefits, to talking on the mobile phone. Meetings where you need to contact someone else without disturbing the proceedings, when you don’t want to disturb the person you are sending the message to, so you send it to be read at their convenience.

Hundreds of free text messages mobile phone deals

With many mobile phone deals offering hundreds of free text messages a month as part of contract, states quite clearly that we are now a world of SMS professionals that see this service as part of their lives. Millions of texts are send every day in just about every country in the world.

If you are not using SMS yet you are one of the minority and are yet to see the benefits, because to a non believer screen with 20 words or so, can be seen as waste of time. Trying to figure out the predictive text and the absence of a qwery keyword can also put you off. But give it a go and I bet in a short period of time you will be texting like the rest of us.
