There was a time when the only function required within a mobile phone was the ability to talk on the move, but a technology moved on, phones got smaller and the consumer demanded or at least has been tempted by other additions.

One of these has been the addition of a digital camera within the mobile phone. Originally these were just enough quality to make out the image taken, but now as usual, newer technology has pushed prices down and quality up, so the quality can now be the same as a reasonably good digital camera.

Greatest benefit of the mobile phone camera

Most people do not use these cameras as there main way of recording life, as mobile phones have got cheaper so have mainstream digital cameras. But the greatest benefit of camera phones is the ability to have digital camera with you at any time and have the ability to capture that picture or even short movie clip of the unexpected, you would have missed unless you always carry your main camera, which of course most of us do not.

Capturing pictures at the most unexpected time has added real value to the mobile phone market, making it a consideration to which mobile phone is chosen. Although they are near the digital quality for mainstream cameras, there is still a limitation in lens  quality, that quality cameras of a larger size benefit from, but it will be a matter of time. Of course increasing quality within a camera is the same for camera phones, the image may have increased but the memory size required to hold these improved image quality images also has to increase, sometimes it helps if the mobile phone manufacturers also make cameras too and has access to that technology.

Manufactures associated with camera phones

This also means that manufactures normally associated with cameras over the years are now selling mobile phones with greater credibility than they were before the introduction of mobile phone cameras. As technology to speak to each other seems almost basic stuff now, there seems to other factors in this extremely competitive market and maybe the advancement of the digital image and the ability to have a way of capturing life wherever you are is becoming more important than ever.
